Here I am at last in the world of blogging, thanks to the ICT Department, Aga Khan University IED-EA. I feel somewhat embarrassed that I have taken this long to get to this exciting experience, even when I started hearing of blogging a couple of years ago. It has a lot to do with my background. Nevertheless, I am delighted to have got on board before it is too late.
This is all about advancement in ICT, which seems to be the most dynamic field of knowledge in this century. Things change so fast in ICT that before one is properly used to one version, there is a new one.This keeps its followers on toes all the time to keep abreast with the fluidity in the field, especially in the development of software systems.
The most remarkable thing about the tremendous progress in ICT is that it is intertwined with the development in all other aspects of life; as in education, entertainment, business, politics, ... I strongly believe that the world will come to a stand still on the day innovations in ICT will stop. Will that day come to pass? I don't know.
My only biggest worry about ICT is how some users tend to abuse it to carry out malicious activities. More disturbing is the issue of computer viruses, coning people through fake advertisements, posting of horrible murder scenes as a tool for propaganda by some unscrupulous individuals and groups, pornography, ... the list is endless. It is everybody's responsibility to ensure that they utilise ICT to their advantage but not disadvantage.
